Andy is a student, 19 and Samantha is 18, they have been lovers ever since high school but one thing has been haunting Andy. A traumatic event occurred when he was just 4. It was the summer and the nights were stuffy. His foster-brother was fast asleep and he should have been too, but alas he couldn’t sleep. He laid awake listening to the sound of owls wooing outside when he hears a crash downstairs. He slides out of bed trembling with fear and be so careful not to make a sound. As he gets half way down stairs he hears a thump like something being thrown to the ground. He instantly crashes to the step he is stood on and grasps the hand rail like he’s holding on for dear life. After about a minute of no sound he works up the courage to finally finish his journey down stairs. He grabs onto the door knob, takes a deep breath in and opens it. He walks in to find his mum motionless on the floor, blood up the walls, and his dad with a hammer in his hand.
He is always a quiet one at school and until he met Samantha, he never stood up for himself. Over their years together in school they build a relationship and they officially get together. They go places, holidays, movies and get the exams they want. After college Andy decides he wants to go to University and Samantha, work. They both do what they want and Andy gets in to the nearest University meaning that he can come back on weekends. The train journeys he makes increases his confidence and at University, begins flirting with girls without Samantha knowing. They fall for his act and he gets even more confident. Months pass and she still has no idea what sort of creepy things he gets up to. She notices how he has changed over the months he has been away. He returns on the eve of their 5 year anniversary out of coincidence the parents are out. He cooks Samantha a meal to celebrate and after they have finished go upstairs to the bedroom that they have many times made love.
She again notices how confident he is, more so than before and asks, jokily, if he has had practice. His face turns white and Samantha’s eyes fill up with tears. She starts to struggle but he holds her down. Getting distressed, she starts screaming to which he puts a pillow over her head. Pushing the pillow down with almighty force her body starts to fit, hearing her screaming makes him push down harder. The fitting gets slower and her grip on his hands weaken until no movement from her body continues. He then cries for what he has done but knows that the law will have no mercy for him. He decides to bury the body in his back garden never to speak of what he has done. The final shot of the movie is a hand smashing out of the ground covered in soil.
Would this work as a HORROR film? It reads more like a drama, with admittedly a grizly end.
